Who are The Kitchen Family
We are a young, lively and vibrant family with lots of interests, particularly music. We love nothing more than to sit around the computer choosing different songs from around the world to sing or dance along to. Many of our students have musical abilities and we often get together for a jamming session. We have some instruments but intend to obtain more in the future. We are also entertainers providing entertainment, music and singing for children and adults parties and photographers. See our Facebook page for more details Funky Photography Parties and Entertaining wedding disco and photography.
Your host mum is Sharon. I thoroughly enjoy the company of people. I have been a singer and entertainer for more than 20 years now. Along with being a mum, a singer and entertainer I am friendly and sociable. My husband is Greg and we work together in all that we do. We have 5 children. Shannon is the oldest, a fantastic singer and entertainer. Conor is very funny, he plays golf, video games, skateboard and enjoys people. Riley is kind and happy, Rosie is feisty but funny, and Danny, the youngest, is caring and loving. All the children take great pleasure in mixing with the students and are good teachers of English. We also have a love for dogs. We have our own dog called Jake a Jack Russel, but often have a guest dog. Many of our friends have dogs and when they go on holiday their dogs come and stay with us.
Warmley is situated between Bristol and Bath. Both cities are about 20 minutes by car. Our family home is in a quiet road but is within 5 minutes walk of a large complex with swimming pool, gym, cinema, supermarket which is open 24 hours, restaurants, pubs, bowling and more shops. Kingswood and Keynsham are 15 minutes by bus. Both these small villages contain shopping centers and job centers. This will be the first step if you are looking for a job.
Where are you situated
There are many buses to Bristol and Bath city centers frequently. The train station is 20 minutes and the airport is within half an hour. It takes 2 hours by car to get to London and only 1 hour to get to Cardiff. Bristol is truly an amazing and cultural city with everything you need.
Will the students have to follow house rules
May our students share a bedroom with other students
What if I require English lessons
How long can a guest stay
Do I have to pay a deposit
Yes. The students are expected to behave as members of the family and follow all of the rules and expectations of the household. We are open and honest about our house rules.
Yes. All our bedrooms are shared and consist of 2 bunkbeds equalling to 4 beds per room. Each room has ample storage space and study space. We only allow same gendre in each room and expect the students to respect each of their room mates. We have 3 letting rooms for guests and 3 bathrooms. There is also a coin operated laundry facility.
If you require English lessons, we can organise a teacher to hold the lessons at Bristol Host family. The lessons can only be held if there are 5 or more students requiring lessons. The lessons usually begin at 8.45 and finish at 11. The hourly rate is £8 but as the lessons are held at the premises there is no added costs for travelling. Our classroom is comfortable and spacious and the lessons are very beneficial and educational. Alternatively, you can attend a school in the centre of Bristol. One of which we recommend Isle of Bristol.
Our guests are here for many reasons. The majority of time it is to learn the English language. Often when students have reached a good level they feel confident enough to look for a job. As we are situated between Bristol and Bath and have many shops and restaurants surrounding us there are lots of opportunities. In this case the students tend to stay longer than they expected to. Students can book from one week onwards depending on availability.
A deposit will be required and can be paid via paypal or bank transfer. The weekly amount should be paid on arrival and thereafter on the day it falls.
